Quartz is a synthetic stone, composed mainly of quartz, hence its international name: Quartz surface. It surpasses in hardness all other natural and artificial materials (marble, granite, artificial marble) but it is not resistant to high temperatures, which is why it is not suitable for external use and for lining fireplaces. On the contrary, the fact that it is a non-absorbent and corrosion resistant material, makes it ideal for kitchen and bathroom countertops.
